Join us in advancing impactful initiatives, particularly in agriculture, where our expertise contributes to transformative projects in global food production.The RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to join constellr’s Mission Operations Segment and play a pivotal role in ensuring the health and performance of our satellite fleet. As a Software Developer, you’ll work closely with our satellite operations team, contributing to the development, maintenance, and enhancement of critical safety tools that are essential to our day-to-day operations and the success of our missions.Your role will be instrumental in improving operational efficiency, scaling infrastructure to support new satellites, and ensuring the cybersecurity and reliability of our systems. From automating processes to collaborating with suppliers, you’ll directly impact constellr’s mission success and shape the future of satellite operations.Location – Our team is distributed across Europe, and while we’d love for you to join us in Freiburg, we offer flexibility to work remotely as long as it doesn’t affect our operations.What You’ll Be DoingMaintain and enhance existing safety-critical in-house tools.Implement new features to improve operations, automate processes, and scale infrastructure for fleet expansion.Develop new tools based on requirements from upcoming missions or operator needs.Collaborate closely with the satellite operations team to address challenges and propose technical solutions.Engage with suppliers for maintenance and updates of procured tools and services.Ensure timely reaction to safety-critical issues and prioritize cybersecurity in all developments.About youTechnical Skills (Must-Have):Degree in aerospace engineering, software engineering, computer science, or a related field.3+ years of experience as a software developer (experience in aerospace or safety-critical software is a plus).Proficiency in Python and Java development.Strong understanding of Linux environments and cloud-based deployments (AWS experience required).Expertise with SQL and database technologies (PostgreSQL required; InfluxDB is a plus).Familiarity with data visualization tools like Grafana.Hands-on experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.Passion for space projects and familiarity with space operations or Earth observation missions.Technical Skills (Nice-to-Have):Experience with React technology stack.Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, REST, Maven PDM, Kaitai Struct.Understanding of systems engineering principles and ECSS standards.Non-Technical Skills:Ability to prioritize tasks, deliver results on time, and proactively address deviations.Quick learner with a drive to expand knowledge and skill sets.Collaborative, team-player mindset with a strong motivation to shape constellr’s organization.Analytical, results-oriented, and self-motivated with strong discipline for mission success.Comfortable working in a distributed team using collaborative tools.Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.Why constellr?Join a fast-growing, diverse and motivated team with a strong drive for positive changeAutonomy to set and deliver against your own goals, develop new skills and capabilities, and lead others to do the same.Directly influence your contribution to achieving several of the UN’s sustainable development goals, including Zero Hunger, Clean Water, No Poverty and Climate ActionBe part of a multi-disciplinary, and diverse team with a strong desire to change the world.Be a formative part of the team delivering the world’s first commercial infrared constellation into orbit, enabling an unprecedented understanding of our planet and its resources.Our BenefitsAn attractive virtual shares package (Virtual Share Option Program)A company pension scheme (bAV) in cooperation with WWK Lebensversicherung (20% subsidy) for German employeesFlexible working: we support remote or semi-remote working for many of our rolesWork-life balance: we value everyone’s time and respect family or personal commitments.
