Located in the proximity of Zurich, the research center employs approximately 60 scientists from all over the world with cross-disciplinary expertise. In the Electromechanics Integration Group we perform cutting-edge research and look at various aspects of making the power system stronger, smarter and greener. We focus on the challenges and opportunities in enhancing grid flexibility and facilitating renewable energy proliferation. In this context, we offer an internship position which provides the opportunity of working on real-world projects in an international team of research scientists.How you’ll make an impactCharacterize materials and components by high frequency experimentsDevelop high frequency compact models of EMC materials and componentsIntegrate and validate developed models in a system-level environmentCollaborate with experts in a multi-disciplinary research teamPresent progress updates and results, and write technical reportsContribute to scientific publications.Your BackgroundCurrently pursuing an MSc degree in electrical engineering, physics, applied mathematics, or a similar subject – official enrolment is essentialBasic understanding and interest in electromagnetic theory, magnetic materials, and electromagnetic compatibilityInterest in both, laboratory work as well as simulation and modeling workExperience in programming, for example Matlab, Python, or C++Optional: experience with EM simulations tools, such as 3D full-wave solvers or circuit simulatorsWritten and oral proficiency in EnglishEnthusiastic, motivated and curious team player with good organizational skillsAvailability for six months, with the possibility of further extensionMore about usSelected candidates will be required to demonstrate their background knowledge during the interview.
