We also specialize in providing high-quality private equity solutions to our clients.Front-End Engineer (Limited Contract – 6 months)The TeamYou will be part of an embedded data & system team within the Insurance Linked Securities (ILS) business unit. The ILS business unit is a dynamic group managing investments in Catastrophe Bonds amongst other insurance related securitization. The embedded technology team builds specialized application for the business and collaborates directly with the rest of the ILS team to better understand their needs for new technologies.Position OverviewThe Front-End Engineer will be responsible for implementing visual and interactive elements that users engage with in a web application. They will work closely with the business unit (Insurance Linked Securities) to understand their needs and with back-end developers to bridge the gap between design and technical implementation.Key Responsibilities
- User Interface Development
- Develop responsive web applications using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Implement cutting-edge user interfaces using front-end framework React.
- Design Implementation
- Collaborate with the business to capture requirements to translate into functional code.
- Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs, maintaining design integrity across browsers.
- Performance Optimization
- Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
- Implement best practices in web performance, including lazy loading, caching, and minimizing resource size.
- Code Quality and Maintenance
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving development standards and practices.
- Implement automated testing using frameworks such as Jasmine
- Deployment
- Utilize CI/CD tools such as TeamCity, Github actions or Azure DevOps to automate deployment processes.
- Establish automated testing environments to ensure code quality and functionality.
- Implement containerization with Docker to facilitate consistent application environments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Prior experience as a Front-End Developer or similar role is advantageous.
- Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
- Experience with modern JavaScript libraries and frameworks including React
- Familiarity with CSS preprocessors like Sass or LESS.
- Understanding of RESTful APIs and asynchronous request handling.
- Experience with performance testing for web pages.
- Team player who values clean code.
- Familiar with test automation techniques such as TDD.
- Strong attention to detail and an analytical approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
