It is housed in a state-of-the-art facility with more than 20 research groups and brand-new high-tech labs and facilities. Alongside the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB), the IOR is a member of Bios+ (Bellinzona Institutes of Science), a newly established non-profit organization dedicated to advancing, supporting, and coordinating scientific research and teaching initiatives ( ). The Stem Cells & Cancer Lab, headed by Prof. Arianna Baggiolini, and the Bioinformatics Core Unit, headed by Dr. Luciano Cascione, offer an international, inclusive, and dynamic atmosphere and are inviting applications for a Bioinformatician position (100%).The projectsThe Stem Cells & Cancer lab covers a broad range of topics from human pluripotent stem cells (hPSC)-based models of development and disease to cancer neuroscience and tumor microenvironment. The Bioinformatics Core Unit specializes in algorithm development and software engineering, enabling innovative discoveries and advancing scientific knowledge in the field of genomics and multi-omics data integration. The position will cover projects led by both Arianna Baggiolini ( ) and Luciano Cascione ( ).Profile requirementsIdeal candidates should satisfy the following requirements:

  • Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field.
  • Background in stem cells, cancer, or genomics.
  • Extensive experience with RNA-seq, Cut&Run, and scRNA-seq data analysis.
  • Experience working with large-scale genomics data sets, including transcriptomics, genomics, epigenomics, and proteomics data.
  • Desire to collaborate with a diverse team and become an integrated component of multiple projects.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English).
  • Ability to work independently and to plan and direct own work.
  • Interest in teaching and tutoring students.
