It has regional campuses in Zollikofen near Bern (main campus), Lausanne and Lugano as well as off-campus space in Olten and Zurich.For the Research and Development Department in Lugano, the Swiss Federal University for Vocational Education and Training has an opening for one part-time position, start of activity is immediately or by arrangement, asSenior Researcher al 60% in the research field «Educational Technologies in Vocational Programmes»Duration of employment: 01.03.2025 – 28.02.2029Healthcare assistants (HCA) have to face professional situations causing emotional responses that are difficult for novices to regulate, thereby undermining professional performance and well-being. Therefore, HCAs should develop emotion regulation (ER) strategies in the first stages of their professional training during vocational education and training (VET). Virtual reality technologies, including immersive 360 video (360 VR), have been shown to be valid tools for eliciting emotional responses. However, the specific technical and content-related features of the 360 VR responsible for emotion elicitation remain unclear.Furthermore, how 360 VR can be effectively integrated into ER training for healthcare VET has been poorly explored. These are the questions we will address within a new FNS-funded research project.Your main responsibility will be to promote and conduct empirical research on these topics, including studies using physiological measures. This main position can be coupled with an additional temporary work percentage depending on further funding available in the research team.DescriptionAutonomously conducting and managing quantitative and qualitative innovative research in the healthcare assistants field, in compliance with the project proposal, and namely pointing toa) the use of physiological measures andb) the use of immersive 360 videosPublishing research results nationally and internationallyPresenting research results at congresses and distributing them among relevant networksDeveloping networks with VET/PET stakeholders and company representativesPlanning and implementing transfer activitiesRequirementsDoctoral degree in psychology, learning sciences, instructional sciences (didactics), education, or similarProven experience in the use of physiological measurements for research is an important added value, also in lieu of a doctoral degreeDocumented competence and experience in qualitative and/or quantitative research methodsExperience in research project management is welcomeInclination to work with technology and with educational technology in particularMastery of ItalianMastery of English, as you will be active in the international research communityMotivation for practice-oriented research, especially with respect to the specific challenges of VET/PETStrong analytical skills and solution-oriented work styleVery good academic writing skillsAbility to work autonomously and to coordinate with other team members and external partnersExperience in vocational education and training would be a plusWe offer
