This 60% position based in Zurich offers you the opportunity to make a significant impact on our global energy portfolio and contribute to a more sustainable future.About the RoleAs an Energy Specialist within our Centre of Competence, you’ll be at the forefront of energy transition, supporting Property and Casualty Reinsurance from within Global Specialty. You’ll focus on traditional energy products while serving as the specialist for carbon capture and storage technologies and geothermal solutions – areas critical to meeting global climate goals.Key Responsibilities
- Support profitable development of traditional energy transition and sustainable growth of renewables, particularly in the CCUS and geothermal segments, expanding Swiss Re’s market footprint
- Provide technical expertise to Underwriting teams on Energy submissions, serving as the point of expertise on traditional energy, geothermal and CCUS value chains
- Represent the Energy CoC as an ambassador in your region
- Identify client needs and growth potential to develop tailor-made solutions in partnership with P&C Re colleagues
- Share knowledge actively within Swiss Re through training, special projects, and research on Energy technologies and exposures
- Take ownership of internal coordination tasks within the CoC
- Contribute to portfolio steering by defining best practices, developing Underwriting tools, and recommending corrective measures when necessary
- Improve risk accumulation management as an expert user of dedicated offshore accumulation tools
Specific tasks will include:
- Monitoring accumulation and headline risk exposure for offshore and windfarm assets
- Developing and calibrating costing tools with actuaries and facilitating tool rollouts
- Participating in Smart Circle processes to improve costing approaches
- Supporting referrals to the Energy CoC in collaboration with underwriters and specialists
- Developing new products and amending existing offerings
- Creating and maintaining robust training programs for Construction and Operational covers
- Teaching at client and internal training events
- Enabling knowledge transfer across regions, lines of business, and functions in the Energy sector

- University degree in a scientific or commercial field
- At least 5 years of relevant traditional Energy experience in Energy Underwriting, related investments, or reinsurance tasks
- Strong analytical skills with ability to understand complex technical topics
- Excellent communication skills with fluency in English
These are additional nice to haves:
- Experience with carbon capture technologies or geothermal energy projects
- Proficiency in additional languages beyond English
- Background in risk engineering or technical assessment of energy facilities
- Experience with sustainability initiatives in the energy sector
- Familiarity with energy transition strategies and technologies
We are looking forward to your application!For Switzerland, the base salary range for this position is between CHF 132,000 and CHF 198,000 (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers: ​
- the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role,​
- the applicant’s own profile including education/qualifications, expertise, specialisation, skills and experience.​
